The day kicks off with The Annual Living Legends Awards Celebration & Brunch at 11AM (limited tickets available, separate registration required)

This year’s festival promises to be a free, family-friendly event filled with entertainment and community spirit, including:

● Live concerts and performances from talented local and national artists that celebrate African American culture and history. Inlcuding: DC Go-Go Pioneers JunkYard Band, Black Alley, Black History Band, Soul in Motion African Dance & Drum, R&B grooves with 2nd Wind, and Gospel Artist Robert Person. The evening will end with The Remembering Frankie Beverly Tribute Band

● An art demonstration from BlackRock artist Brandon Donahue Shipp, who is designing a public art piece as part of BlackRock’s Great Lawn Project. Over the course of spring and summer 2026, Brandon will be gathering objects from local Germantown-area residents to be vacuum-formed for the final artwork. The objects—personal, historic, and symbolic—will come together to form a portrait of the Germantown community.

● Book Signings and Author Discussions with New York Times Best Selling author D. Watkins, (The Beast Side, The Cook Up, Where Tomorrow’s Aren't Promised and Black Boy Smile) sponsored by Montgomery County Public Libraries, as well as Whitney Parnell, author of Breathing Out: Ruminations of a Millennial Black Woman

● A bustling artisans market featuring unique handmade goods from local creators

● Engaging talks that encourage reflection and discussion about the significance of Juneteenth and the ongoing fight for freedom, including a panel discussion with the National Council of Negro Women.

Come join us and feel the community vibes, as we honor freedom and history together while acknowledging the importance of the work ahead. Bring your friends and family to enjoy live music, tasty food, and meaningful activities. Let’s celebrate heritage, unity, and the spirit of Juneteenth in an unforgettable way!
