The Salem Big Band Live in Concert

Join the Salem Big Band as we celebrate life through great music of the 20th century.

Chemeketa Community College presents an evening with the Salem Big Band.

The Salem Big Band was established in 1989. The band is a 17 piece group with a long and storied history of playing dances and commercial events in the Willamette Valley. The current iteration of the group has emerged as more of a Jazz Collective with individual contributions by a variety of soloist, jazz composers and arrangers.

The band plays a wide range of material ranging from jazz funk and fusion, Latin and Brazilian grooves, contemporary swinging big band charts, vocal features and arrangements of choice standards. The music showcases the unique style of accomplished improvisers as well as tight finely tuned ensemble playing of highly crafted arrangements.

We hope to foster a strong sense of community not only with our band members but also with our audiences through a uniquely American art form - Jazz
