Truly Houston Gamelan

Works for Javanese Gamelan by traditional composers, as well as modern, like Lou Harrison

Gamelan of the New Moon is not the typical gamelan one might find within the walls of a university. As an independant, volunteer ran organization, we explore a wide corpus of Indonesian music as well as new works by more recent composers from various backgrounds. A program featuring works for Javanese Gamelan, old and new, along with dance. We will also perform music by Lou Harrison and have a special cello and gamelan cover of Winandar's 'DNA', a work composed in Houston for Gamelan of the New Moon, making the entire experience, a 'Truly Houston Gamelan'.
