Overview

Join us for a night in the galleries and art making

Inspired by the dramatic, high-contrast style of film noir, participants will create their own block print in black-and-white. This event will begin in the galleries, viewing work by artists in the current exhibitions, Yoshitaka Amano and Chase a Crooked Shadow, before gathering in the library for light bites, drinks, and a tutorial on block printing. This workshop will be led by artists and staff members Michael Duncan from The Warehouse and Madeline Herrera from The Rachofsky Collection.

Participants will design, carve, and print their own work. All materials will be provided. Please note: this workshop requires the use of sharp carving tools.

Registration required. You must be 21+ years to register.

Exhibitions On View

Chase a Crooked Shadow: Film Noir as Contemporary Mirror

April 11 - July 18, 2026

Chase a Crooked Shadow: Film Noir as Contemporary Mirror, curated by Alexandra Terry, approaches noir as a visual, psychological, and ethical framework that continues to resonate today. The exhibition considers film noir as an enduring worldview rather than a historical style, tracing its relevance through contemporary art as it explores themes like: the detective and antihero; the fatal and shifting power dynamic; criminals and the scene of the crime; noir landscapes and environments; violence and the abject body; and psychological states shaped by duplicity, ambiguity, obsession, and entrapment.

WAREHOUSE: 01 Yoshitaka Amano

April 11 - July 18, 2026

The fifth iteration of WAREHOUSE:01, The Warehouse’s single-artist exhibitions, contains artwork from almost 30 years of Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano’s decades-long career. This two-part exhibition explores his art historically inspired works, as well as his more commercially oriented work connected to his role as illustrator and character designer for cartoons like Speed Racer and Gatchaman (called G-Force in the U.S.), the Final Fantasy video game series, and the Vampire Hunter D book series. Propelled by an unyielding pursuit of creative evolution, Amano’s output forms a vast universe in which narratives and motifs interweave, converse, and come apart across a variety of media.
