Overview

From newsroom leaders to journalists on the frontlines: Join us May 4 as we sound off on why Latino representation is non-negotiable.

Chicago at the Center: National Headlines, and Latino Representation

Chicago has been at the forefront of some of the most significant national stories impacting Latino communities in recent years. These issues have shaped national headlines, yet the journalists best positioned to tell these stories, those with cultural understanding, language skills, and deep community trust, remain underrepresented across newsrooms.

This conversation will examine the disconnect between the scale of these stories and the lack of Latino representation in media, particularly in leadership roles. Panelists will discuss how coverage is shaped, the challenges journalists face in telling these stories with accuracy and context, and what must change to ensure Latino journalists have a stronger voice in defining the narrative at both the local and national level.
