Presented for one day only, this free gathering brings together art, community, food, music, workshops, ancestral knowledge, and collective care. The exhibition and surrounding programs explore our relationships with land, body, belonging, cultural memory, and the environments that shape us.

Irie Zepeda
Irie Zepeda is a community organizer, printmaker, curator, and creative arts therapist who creates community-centered spaces that weave together printmaking, ancestral knowledge, cultural memory, and collective care.
As the lead coordinator and curator of Raíces y Remedios, Irie brings together artists, land stewards, practitioners, and community partners in celebration of healing through art and creativity.
Irie is the current recipient of San Diego Made Factory’s My Creative Journey | Mi Viaje Creativo artist residency. Their practice centers community as both process and medium.
Gloria Muriel
Gloria Muriel is an artist, muralist, and cancer survivor whose work explores healing, ceremony, and our relationship with the Earth.
Through painting, public art, and community spaces, she invites people to reconnect with nature, gratitude, and collective care.
Antonia Davis
Antonia Davis is a San Diego artist and artivist whose work amplifies the voices of marginalized communities through socially engaged multimedia installations.
A founding member of the San Diego Puppet Insurgency, she has spent decades creating art in support of social and environmental justice.

Veladora Piñata Workshop
3:30–4:30 PM
Facilitated by Soledawg
Soledawg is a queer artisan creating on Luiseño and Kumeyaay land. Working primarily with papier-mâché and specializing in piñatas, their practice is rooted in community, culture, and radical love.
Participants will learn about the cross-cultural Indigenous history of piñatas while creating their own veladora-style piñata. The workshop invites participants to connect with their inner child and reflect on their relationships with themselves, one another, the practices that ground them, and the lands they inhabit.
Seedling Care Workshop
3:30–4:30 PM
Facilitated by Idzai of ARIF Urban Agrarian Collective
ARIF Urban Agrarian Collective is a mutual aid farm and community orchard in City Heights founded by East African farmers. Through education, food sovereignty, and community care, ARIF works to cultivate healthy and resilient neighborhoods.
Learn the fundamentals of seedling care, including practices that support healthy growth and successful transplanting. Idzai will guide participants through practical techniques for nurturing young plants and building confidence in growing food at home.
Participants will also have the opportunity to take home seedlings through a community raffle.
Pozol: Agua, Cacao y Maíz
4:30–5:30 PM
Facilitated by Ama Cacao
Born and raised in the volcanic region of central Mexico on Matlatzinca land, Ama Cacao is a descendant of the Chichimeca and Totonac peoples.
Inspired by ancestral cacao and maíz, they create intentional recipes as both food and medicine while practicing and sharing traditional Mexican healing as a sobadora, full-spectrum doula, chocolatera, and mother.
Participants will follow the process of preparing pozol, a traditional beverage made with cacao, maíz, water, and piloncillo, beginning with the seed itself. The workshop will explore cacao as an ancestral food and its connections to culture, identity, and tradition.
DIY Limpia Workshop
5:30–6:30 PM
Facilitated by Destino Ocelotl
Destino Ocelotl is a Curanderismo practitioner, ceremonialist, and artist of Chichimeca descent whose work is rooted in Indigenous wisdom and ancestral healing.
Limpias are energetic cleansing practices informed by Indigenous knowledge and ancestral traditions. Participants will explore somatic and energetic practices that support alignment of the mind, body, and spirit.
The workshop will focus on self-regulation, empowerment, energetic clearing, and returning to center.
Live Music
7:00–8:00 PM
Close out the evening with live music by Nightshade y Los Salvajes.
Raíces y Remedios is the final public exhibition of Irie Zepeda’s residency and will be presented for one day only. Come experience the artwork, participate in a workshop, connect with local artists and organizations, and celebrate creativity, healing, and community.

Artistas participantes
