Faith & Resistance: A Framework for Engaging in the Urgent Work of Justice

Faith & Resistance: A Framework for Engaging in the Urgent Work of Justice

Online event
Tuesday, May 19  •  12 PM - 1 PM CDT
Overview

Many faith communities feel called to respond to the injustices they see in their communities but struggle with where to begin!

Drawing on community engagement practice, strategic planning, and insights from direct work with faith leaders, this webinar outlines a pathway for churches and faith-based groups to move from intention to meaningful action while addressing common challenges that often arise. Participants will leave with a clear set of action steps they can use to begin this work in their own congregations and communities.

Shauna Lewis is a community engagement strategist who works with faith leaders, academic institutions, and community organizations across the U.S. South to advance justice-focused initiatives. She currently serves as Community Engagement Manager at E Pluribus Unum, where she leads a multi-sector alliance of equity organizations and a leadership accelerator for southern college students committed to building stronger, more inclusive communities.

In partnership with the St. Charles Center for Faith + Action, she co-led the design and facilitation of an 18-month congregational program supporting churches engaged in justice work, as well as the 2025 Standing In Truth Summit in New Orleans which brought together clergy, lay leaders, and congregants from across the region. Her work draws on more than 15 years of experience in community engagement, strategic planning, and leadership development. She holds an MBA with a specialization in Strategy from Tulane University.
