Overview

Echos of Home - a vibrant multi-artist exhibit in one of Austin's most unique galleries in honor of AAPI Heritage Month.

Step into an evening of reflection, connection, and discovery at The Cathedral’s May Open House, featuring Echoes of Home — a group exhibition in honor of AAPI Heritage Month.

Bringing together seven artists — Erica Prassad, Lauren Hua, Ziesook You, Neena Buxani, Aasiyah Baig, Swathi Casso, and Umbreen Ahmad — Echoes of Home explores the layered, shifting nature of belonging. Across painting, sculpture, textile, and mixed media, the exhibition traces how identity is carried through memory, migration, and lived experience — revealing home as something both deeply rooted and constantly in motion.

Throughout the evening, guests are invited to move through the space, take in the work, and experience the many ways home can be remembered, reimagined, and redefined — all while enjoying an open bar featuring craft cocktails. Join us for an artist talk, connect with the creatives behind the work, and gather with Austin’s vibrant art community in an open, welcoming setting.

Whether you're a longtime collector or simply curious, Open House nights at The Cathedral are designed to make contemporary art approachable, engaging, and alive.

Voted as one of the top three places to see art in Austin, this woman and immigrant-owned gallery is proud to present this bold and intentional exhibit.

About the exhibit:

Echoes of Home

A Group Exhibition in Honor of AAPI Month featuring atxGALS Artists Lauren Hua, Neena Buxani, Umbreen Ahmad, and Ziesook You & Guest Artists Aasiyah Baig, Erica Prasad, and Swathi Konduri

Home is not always a fixed place — it is a feeling, a memory, a language carried within the body. In Echoes of Home, seven AAPI artists explore the layered and often shifting nature of belonging, tracing the quiet reverberations of heritage, migration, and identity across their practices.

Spanning diverse mediums and perspectives, the works in this exhibition reflect on what it means to locate oneself between histories — inherited and lived, distant and immediate. Fragments of home emerge through gesture, material, and narrative: in acts of preservation, in moments of translation, and in the spaces where cultural memory is both held and reimagined.

Rather than offering a singular definition, Echoes of Home invites a multiplicity of voices. Each artist approaches the idea of home as something elastic — shaped by displacement, intimacy, resilience, and care. Together, their works form a constellation of perspectives that speak to the complexity of diasporic experience, where home can be both rooted and in flux.

This exhibition creates space for reflection on the ways identity is carried, constructed, and remembered — and how, across distance and time, the echoes of home continue to resonate.

Want to meet the artists? Join us for a limited-access Artist Talk prior to doors for an intimate look at the exhibit through the artists' eyes.
