Free Teacher Workshop: L.E.A.R.N. = Let's Explore Artful Reenactment Now
Get hands-on ideas for props, tools & interactive experiences that spark genuine student discovery!
About the Workshop
Envision the teacher as an actor or performer. It's not far off. You give 120% to hold the attention of your students, not for a couple hour show but often for an entire work day. You have a "script" of materials and language you need to get across to your students in order to call it a successful day. Since the school district won't hire a stunt double to parkour the walls to your teacher's desk or rappel through the ventilation system as you prep students for midterms, it's time to get scrappy and DIY your students' epic adventure.
Centering on a foundation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), this workshop offers ideas and suggestions for creating props, interactive experiences and tools for actively engaging students in the joyous act of discovery. Let's build a blue whale with string, celebrate interdependence using multiplication, do a word dance, draw a manga style historic figure and then set out to discover that Oscar (or apple?) winning "Aha!" for your next lesson plan.
Workshop Timeline
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Workshop
6:00 PM - 7PM | Chat and Shop with your fellow teachers
All teachers will receive $25 of materials for free.
Our Free Teacher Workshops qualify as Prop G Hours
