Join this joyful maker community as you choose your own colors to make and take home your butterfly garden stake or hanging light catcher.

About this event Event lasts up to 4 hours MakerSpace Charlotte new address: 1003 Louise Ave, Suite A, Charlotte, NC 28205This is a  four hour fundamental class introducing stained glass using the Tiffany method of glass cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering. Pieces will be finished with polish and instructions on the best methods to showcase their projects. Students will use a template and take home a finished piece of art. This class offers a wonderful experience for creating a handmade craft that is perfect for adding a personal touch to your home decor or gifting something special. Students will choose their own colors of glass to use. Fundamental Class Details:<ul><li>Duration: 3.5 - 4 hours per session</li><li>Frequency: Single session</li><li>Location: MakerSpace Charlotte in Plaza Midwood</li><li>Materials: All materials and tools provided.</li></ul> Class Overview:This class provides a supportive environment tailored to all skill levels, especially beginners. We will use a template to create our plant stakes or suncatchers (you decide the way your art will live in your space). We will discuss design creation for your intermediate projects ahead. Students will learn and perform the basics of glass selection, cutting, grinding, foiling, burnishing, soldering, cleaning, and polishing. What You'll Learn:<ul><li>Safety in the Glass Lab</li><li>Design creation basics</li><li>Glass selection</li><li>Cutting glass</li><li>Grinding glass</li><li>Foiling and burnishing cut and ground pieces of glass</li><li>Preparing your piece for soldering</li><li>Applying flux for solder </li><li>Soldering your pieces of glass together</li><li>Adding a hanging accessory or copper rod </li><li>How to neutralize the flux and clean your piece</li><li>Polish finished piece before taking it home!</li></ul> What to Expect:<ul><li>Hands-on instruction</li><li>Small class sizes for personalized attention</li><li>Information about the next steps in creating your own stained glass designs</li><li>High-quality materials and tools</li><li>A fun, relaxed atmosphere</li></ul> Who Should Attend:Perfect for all skill levels, whether you’re starting a new hobby or deepening your stained glass skills. AGES:Class is open to ages 16 and up.
