Event Overview:
Amble through the 117 acres (trail is 1 mile) of wetland and upland forest where flowers and fungi are blooming everywhere. Plants will be bursting with spring growth and we’ll look for clues on how to identify them. Ryan Johnson (Firecraft NW) is a naturalist whose specialty is plant ID and wildlife tracking. We’ll explore the differences between wetland plants and upland forest species and learn which animals find the new growth tasty to nibble on. Bonus: Ryan also knows his birds, which we will keep an eye and ear out for. Bring the whole family. About Forterra and Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve: Hidden in this beautiful, marshy landscape is a story of how Forterra, protects forests and ecologically critical lands across Washington. For this preserve, we partnered with King County and neighboring businesses in creative ways to demonstrate how conservation and economic growth can lead to sustainable outcomes.
