Dancefusion presents: fusion2 30th Anniversary
fusion2 30th Anniversary
fusion2 30th Anniversary, Performance, Party and Reunion will bring together our current company with fusion2 alumni to meet, perform and share memories. Featured on our program will be an outstanding collection of pieces by past directors and other faculty from our 30-year history, Jennifer Wheat, Rachel Kantra Beal, Kalila Kingsford Smith, Nancy Kantra, Charles Tyson, Jim Bunting and our current fusion2 director Gabrielle Wright. Our event is open to the public and will feature an after-performance party and reunion with light refreshments and dancing.
Dancefusion’s junior company fusion2 entered the scene in October of 1995 with its first concert, Explosion, at the Community Education Center. The brainchild of faculty member Jennifer Wheat, fusion2 offered upper-level students from the Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center a unique opportunity to broaden their education in dance and leadership through rigorous technical training, performance and community outreach. Over the years, the company has grown and developed under the tutelage of 6 talented directors and a host of professional choreographers. In 2002, fusion2 began its 24-year collaboration with HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, bringing able-bodied teen dancers together with differently-abled students to explore the meanings of ability and disability and experience the joy of dance. This past year has been very busy! IN addition to performing in our holiday show Hansel & Gretel, fusion2 was invited back to perform at the Philadelphia Youth Dance Festival and at the BalletX Pre-show at the Mann Center. Come and celebrate with us our 30 years of history!
