Camels and Chai offers hands-on Islamic art workshops that combine creativity, mindfulness, and art history. We explore styles like Arabic calligraphy, Kufic script, Islamic geometry, Mughal miniature painting, Pakistani Truck Art, and Turkish Iznik tiles. Our classes are welcoming to beginners and experienced artists alike, giving everyone the chance to create unique, meaningful artwork.

Unleash your creativity with Camels and Chai!Join us for a hands-on Painting Workshop at OCA Mocha in Arbutus, MD. This class is not just about painting. It's about remembering. The Palestinian people have faced unimaginable loss, and yet their culture, their symbols, and their spirit continue. We paint as an act of witness.Date: July 11, 2026 Time: 12:00–2:00 PM Location: OCA Mocha, Arbutus, MDUsing acrylic paint and guided instruction, you'll paint the Palestinian flag on canvas, but not just any flag. Each layer of the flag will tell its own story: a sideways watermelon as the red triangle, a wall of bricks in black, a kuffiyeh pattern in black and white, and a green stripe adorned with olive branches. You will leave with a painting that carries meaning far beyond the canvas.To reflect that commitment beyond the canvas, 50% of proceeds from this class will be donated to World Central Kitchen, a DMV-based nonprofit by Chef Jose Andres, that has been delivering over 1 million hot meals daily in Gaza.At Camels and Chai, we specialize in Islamic art–inspired workshops that combine creativity, learning, and reflection. During our sessions, you’ll explore the history behind the geometric patterns while creating your own piece in a calm, fun, and hands-on environment.
