Join us for a screening of Firewall, a short film by Iranian-American filmaker Bita Ghassemi. The film follows Ani, an Iranian-American girl living in rural Texas. She is struggling with the absence of her father, who is stuck behind Iran’s actual internet "firewall"—the state-mandated digital censorship that severs connections between familiesThe story takes a surreal turn when her father mysteriously returns, and the film begins to weave in the ancient Persian legend of Zahhak the Serpent King from the Shahnameh.The screening will be followed by a Q&amp;A, discussing her creative process, the story behind the project, and the themes that shaped her work.
