Mini Metals Series: Charms and Talismans with Melissa Frost

3-Week Series Workshop
Date: Thursdays, May 7 - May 21st, 2026
Time: 6pm-9pm
Description: In this three-week introductory metalsmithing series, participants will create a personal talisman or charms infused with meaning and intention. Led by an instructor with 12 years of metalsmithing experience with a master's degree in art therapy, students will learn foundational metalsmithing techniques, including sawing, filing, forming, and joining metals, while reflecting on personal themes of resilience, intention, and transformation.
Each student will leave with a piece of wearable jewelry and the foundational skills to continue metalsmithing.
Tuition: $170 + $30 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided
We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Please fill out the application here; you can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Instructor
Melissa Pacatang Frost is a multidisciplinary artist and associate counselor based in Pittsburgh. With 12 years of metalsmithing experience and a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling, her work supports individuals navigating grief, trauma, and life transitions while inviting people to experience the grounding, reflective, and empowering qualities of shaping raw materials into meaningful expression.
