Course Description: This introductory workshop provides an overview of Schema Therapy, an integrative treatment model developed to address chronic, longstanding emotional and relational patterns. Participants will be introduced to core emotional needs, early maladaptive schemas, coping styles, schema modes, and key assessment and intervention strategies. The workshop will also highlight the model’s emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, limited reparenting, empathic confrontation, and experiential techniques such as imagery and mode work. Through didactic teaching, experiential exercises, and discussion, participants will gain a practical foundation for understanding and beginning to apply Schema Therapy concepts in clinical work.

About Your Instructor: Elizabeth Armstrong, LCSW-R, is a psychotherapist, founder of a group practice in Manhattan, EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Trainer and Consultant, Certified Schema Therapist, Certified Meditation Teacher, and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapist. She specializes in treating complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, and depression and brings over 20 years of clinical experience to her work. Elizabeth has presented at the Schema Therapy Conference in Copenhagen and at the EMDRIA Conference in Arlington, Virginia, and she is known for her warm, grounded approach and for helping clients move beyond insight alone toward deeper healing and lasting change.
