Bridgeport Walking Tour

Chicago for Chicagoans is delighted to announce a two-hour walk through the historic streets of Bridgeport, led by resident Krista Weir! Krista is an architect and preservationist whose Lithuanian roots in the area inspired her to dive deeper into the history of her own community.

Beginning at the Bridgeport Art Center, the tour will cover the history, architecture, and landmarks of the neighorhood's western side. Learn about the area's long period of significance to diverse groups of immigrants (and how its working class reputation attracted five different city mayors), discover the fascinating and smelly history of its industrial districts, and see countless examples of classic Chicago architecture — homes, schools, churches, businesses, theatres, and more! The afternoon will end at the historic Ramova Theatre's taproom, where participants are encouraged to join the group for a beverage or meal.
