Mount Ephraim GardensFaversham, England
Sunday, May 31 • 1 PM - 7:30 PM
Overview
Heritage festival with talks, live music, food, drink and good company.
This event is to commemorate the struggle of agricultural workers in 19th century Kent. The Swing Riots happened in 1830, because of the low wages and introduction of the threshing machine. The Battle of Bossenden Wood occured in 1838 in response to the Poor Law Amendment Act which made life even more difficult for agricultural labourers. Both events were brutally supressed and resulted in the death of many farm workers.
