Introduction to Flying: How to Become a Pilot
Ever wondered how airplanes stay in the air—or what it actually takes to become a pilot?
In this introductory class, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of aviation, from the science of flight to the real steps involved in earning your pilot’s license. Whether you’re simply curious about flying or seriously considering becoming a pilot, this session will give you a clear, approachable foundation.
We’ll cover how airplanes generate lift using basic aerodynamics (including Bernoulli’s principle), as well as the primary and secondary controls pilots use to navigate the sky. You’ll also learn how airspace is organized in the United States, how to read airport diagrams and charts, and the basics of visual (VFR) and instrument (IFR) navigation.
Finally, we’ll walk through the process of becoming a pilot—what training looks like, what to expect, and how to get started.
Bring your questions! We’ll wrap up with an open Q&A to dive deeper into anything you’re curious about.
No prior knowledge required—just an interest in flight.
About the teacher:
Chirag Sheth has been in the aviation industry for the past eight years. He has been a pilot and a flight instructor for the past seven years. Chirag has helped develop, build and grow two different flight schools and flies part-time corporate charter flights for personal clients.
