Overview

Join local historian Paul Higbee for his talk commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of Spearfish.

Author and historian Paul Higbee will take us on a journey through the early years of Spearfish. The event is free and open to the public and takes place exactly 150 years to the day from when Spearfish was first surveyed on May 29, 1876.

Come early to view the companion photo exhibit "Remembering Spearfish: 150 Years of Community".

Presented by the Leland D. Case Library for Western Historical Studies at BHSU, this photo exhibit is a curated collection of 30 images that tell the story of early Spearfish, showcasing the people, places and everyday moments that shaped its identity.

The photo exhibit will be on display throughout the Heritage Center into the summer season.
