Sewing Class at the Hill House Parlour in Salem, MA
Join us for a pocket altar workshop with the team behind Dirty Pillows. Hand sew your own pocket altar for Beltane!
Come make a cute magical thing with us! Join us for an intimate and hands-on evening as the team at Dirty Pillows comes to Salem for a special Beltane workshop inside Hill House Parlour. This is a one-night gathering devoted to making something meaningful and entirely your own with guidance from the team behind Dirty Pillows. Together, we will be creating pocket altars. Ally Mayhem and her team will guide you through the process from start to finish, teaching the foundations of hand sewing along the way. This is a beginner-friendly class, so no experience is needed. You will be supported throughout, whether this is your first time holding a needle or something you have not done in years.
The timing of this workshop aligns with Beltane, a seasonal turning point associated with fire, creativity, growth, and new beginnings. This workshop is less about perfection and more about the act of making something with your hands that feels personal and real.
All materials will be provided. Each piece you create will be entirely unique, shaped by your choices, your intention, and your energy in the room that evening.

About the Artist
Ally Mayhem is a Pittsburgh-based artist and the maker behind Dirty Pillows, a small business centered around handmade objects that embrace kitsch imperfection, humor, and individuality. Her work is created using secondhand and reclaimed materials. No two pieces are the same, and that is exactly the point. Through her process, Ally encourages others to create freely, to let go of expectations, and to find meaning in the act of making something by hand. By joining this workshop, you are supporting a small, independent artist and getting the rare opportunity to learn directly from her in an intimate setting.
