Garden to Jar: Guide to Canning
Garden to Jar (Updated & Expanded for This Year!) Learn the safe home canning methods from an experienced canner and get canning at home!
Guide to Canning (Updated & Expanded for This Year!)
Last year’s class was a huge success, and this year we’ve made it even better. We’ve extended the class time from 2 hours to 2.5 hours and shifted the focus to be far more hands-on and demonstration-based, with less history and more real, practical canning you can actually use at home.
Our speaker, Toni Pendleton of Lindsey, Ohio, brings nearly 30 years of canning experience. Alongside her husband Kevin, she runs “Pen’s Hens & Hooves Homestead,” where they focus on freezer beef, poultry, and organic gardening. Toni is passionate about food preservation, pantry preparedness, and helping others gain the confidence to do the same.
In this class, you’ll learn the three safe home canning methods—water bath, steam, and pressure canning—through clear, real-time demonstrations. Toni will also cover essential safety basics, proper equipment, suitable foods, how to detect spoilage, and recipes your family will actually enjoy.
Whether you’re brand new or looking to build confidence, this class is designed to help you actually start canning at home—not just learn about it.You’ll leave with a step-by-step guide, digital guide with online support and contact info, and of course the confidence to can at home!
We’ll be hosting this class rain or shine in our outdoor pavilion at the back of the farm. Dress for the weather and come ready to relax, learn, and enjoy some time with our goats during the class break 🐐✨
✨ Special Offer: Sign up with a friend and get the second ticket for just $30 (regularly $50)!
Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite, but we encourage you to visit our website and purchase tickets with lower ticket processing fees here: https://www.holmesteadingfarms.com/event-details/garden-to-jar-guide-to-canning
