Do I need any experience to attend?

No experience is needed! Mahjong 101 is designed for complete beginners. We’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started.

What should I bring?

Only yourself and your willingness to learn and have fun! :-)  All materials are provided for you to use during the lesson, including tiles, racks, and the National Mahjong League playing card.

Will I actually play during the class?

Yes! This is a hands-on/immersive session. After learning the basics, you’ll practice playing with instructor guidance. The goal is to give you the knowledge needed for you to feel comfortable enough to begin playing.

Will there be food available?

Light refreshments will be provided. Coffee, ice cream, and canned drinks will be available for purchase.  Heavier food items are not available onsite.

What happens after I take Mahjong 101?

Everyone learns at their own pace! You may choose to repeat 101, take Mahjong 102, or join Assisted Play with hands-on support.  Mahjong 101 students receive discounts on additional classes and Assisted Play - or - Bundle Mahjong 101 + Mahjong 102 + 2 Assisted Play sessions for $160 ($180 value).

This class is for ages 16 and up. Youth classes and camps will be offered separately.

Class size is limited to 4 students to ensure a comfortable, personalized learning experience.

What if I register but can’t attend?

Because class size is limited, tickets are non-refundable. However, if you need to reschedule to another date or want to transfer your seat to a friend, please contact us in advance. We will try our best to accommodate.
