Spring Ephemeral Walk in Cary's Fern Glen (11:15am)
Learn about the life of spring ephemeral wildflowers in Cary's Fern Glen.
On Sunday, May 3 at 10 am ET, join us for a guided walk in Cary's Fern Glen to learn all about spring ephemerals. A local Master Naturalist will share insights into these woodland wildflowers, which have early, short-lived blooms and provide valuable food sources for early-emerging native pollinators. Species to be explored may include trout lily, spring beauty, jack-in-the-pulpit, and trillium.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and long pants. Bring drinking water. This will be an easy hike of less than 1 mile on trail and boardwalk.
Due to the narrow trails in our Fern Glen, walks will be limited to 10 guests per session to ensure everyone can hear and learn.
Registration via Eventbrite is required. We are charging a nominal fee because this program cannot be overbooked. If the fee is an issue, please drop a note to Maribeth at rubensteinm@caryinstitute.org.
