Alit, aQarawaQ, and more: New Music from Indonesia
A collection of contemporary new music originating from Indonesian composers!
A concert of contemporary new music for piano and percussion from Balinese and Javanese composers. Dewa Alit's latest solo works will be performed by Eva-Maria Zimmerman and Graham Viegut, a brand new multi-media percussion duo by Dion Nataraja receives its second performance, and new, spontaneous creations by Putu Tangkas and the resident guest artists of Gamelan Sekar Jaya round out the evening. This concert will champion the contemporary chamber works of composers who are too often restricted to the gamelan sphere by Western perception and help launch more collaborations between solo/chamber concert musicians and esteemed Indonesian composers.
