Vesper Service: A Cookbook Club
Vesper Service is a cookbook club where we get to show + tell recipes, potluck style. Bring your picnic al fresco best, from your fave book!
Are you there, springtime? It's me, low-lift picnic Vesper Service.
Each guest selects a picnic-friendly recipe from any cookbook they love (or have been meaning to cook from), prepares it at home, and brings it to share. We’ll gather around for a communal, potluck-style meal, sampling each dish while talking about the recipes, the books they came from, and the stories behind them.
Think vibrant salads, handheld bites, seasonal desserts, and dishes that travel well—anything you’d want to spread out on a blanket and enjoy with a glass of wine. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or just getting started, this is a welcoming space to experiment, share, and connect.
How does Vesper Service work?
- Each "service," we select a cookbook or theme to celebrate.
- Cook through one recipe in the typical serving size to bring to share.
- Together, we will each discuss why we chose what we made and any modifications made to the recipe.
- Feast and connect with other like-minded folks from our community.
- Once we're finished, all unclaimed leftovers will be portioned out and donated to one of the many Detroit Community Fridges.
