Overview

In this bold, hilarious solo show, Dani Faith Leonard connects her two areas of expertise: the history of sex and the history of extremism.

Performed by Dani Faith Leonard, this part TED Talk, part one-person show about sex and extremism blends deep research with sharp humor and wildly entertaining visuals.

Dani has spent the past decade studying the history of sex. At the same time, she’s been directing a documentary about extremism in America. Somewhere along the way, she noticed something unsettling—and darkly funny: the research kept overlapping.

From the myth of the hymen to centuries of medical quackery, Dani unpacks how sex has been misunderstood, politicized, and weaponized—especially against women. Along the way, she dives into the so-called “discovery” of the clitoris, the strange history of sex education, and the conspiracy theories that tie it all together—including the claim that Jews invented pornography to make white Christian extremists impotent (they didn’t need any help).

Extremists have a lot to say about what’s going on in your pants. Let’s unpack that together.

Bio:
Dani Faith Leonard is a filmmaker, writer, and performer. Creatively known for deep dives into difficult subjects, Leonard is currently directing and producing a documentary investigating the buried history of Nazis in America. As a writer, she has one of the top 25 humor publications on substack, called Adult Sex Ed, about the stories behind our sexual beliefs—where they came from, who invented them, and why they stuck. She has also performed Adult Sex Ed as a live comedy show, with guests like Atsuko Okatsuka, Gianmarco Soresi, Josh Gondelman, and many more.

Dani has over 15 years of experience producing feature films, series, podcasts, short-form content, and live events. Previously, she founded the production company and media incubator Big Vision Empty Wallet (2010–2022), which supported dozens of culturally relevant films, including SXSW Audience Award-Winner THE LIGHT OF THE MOON (Amazon/Showtime), Tribeca premiere RED, WHITE & WASTED, and LEZ BOMB (Netflix).
