SF Social Prescribing Vibrant Communities Workshop
Join us for a one-day workshop on building a social prescribing ecosystem in San Francisco.
Social isolation and loneliness are among the most urgent public health challenges of our time. Thirty-eight percent of San Francisco residents report feeling socially isolated, with older adults, low-income individuals, and communities of color disproportionately affected.
The Foundation for Social Connection, with support from MetLife Foundation, is hosting a hands-on workshop to advance social prescribing in the Bay Area. Social prescribing is a person-centered model that connects individuals to community-based activities — like arts and culture programming, nature-based experiences, and volunteering — to strengthen wellbeing and reduce isolation.
What You'll Do:
- Learn about social prescribing through an opening plenary with national and local experts
- Map existing community assets and identify ecosystem gaps through collaborative breakouts
- Build new cross-sector partnerships with healthcare providers, social services, and arts groups
- Plan your next steps with a concrete action plan for your organization or community
- Connect with 40-50 fellow leaders who care about advancing social connection through social prescribing.
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is for professionals and community members working across health, social services, arts and culture, aging, and community development in the Bay Area — including clinicians, CBO staff, arts professionals, older adults, advocates, and public health leaders.
Workshop Partners: Social Prescribing USA, UCSF NorCal Coalition for Social Connection, and Front Porch.
What's Provided: Full day of facilitated programming, light breakfast, lunch and refreshments, printed materials, and new cross-sector connections.
Accessibility: We are committed to making this event accessible. Contact conference@social-connection.org with any accessibility needs.
