Overview

Join us in May for a special Jewish American Heritage Month & SF Jewish Week challah bake in collaboration with our friends at Wise Sons.

We will gather to braid dough, share stories across generations, and celebrate the many cultures that shape Jewish food in America today.

Choose from flavors like cinnamon raisin Ashkenazi style, sesame Jerusalem bakery style, olive oil and herbs Sephardi inspired, or sweet date and orange zest with a hint of cardamom. Every loaf carries a different tradition, but all meet at the same table.

As the bread rises, we will gather for a warm Shabbat moment with songs from our community partner Tkiya Music from 3:30-4:00pm and again from 4:30-5:00pm. Come ready to bake, taste, and celebrate the wide, connected tapestry of Jewish life, leaving with a warm loaf and a fuller sense of the shared table.

Slow down and savor the moment. Step out of the week’s hustle and into the rhythm of Shabbat with challah braiding – where tradition meets community in the most delicious way. As we braid the bread dough, we’ll weave our connections, stories and a touch of joy into every strand.

Braid your own challah to take home and bake, filling your kitchen with the comforting aroma of tradition.

Drop in on the fourth Friday for a hands-on experience. Each month offers a fresh twist with new shapes, seasonal flavors and creative braids, while the classics you love are always on hand. Challah dough is made by our friends at Wise Sons.

All are welcome. No culinary experience needed.

RSVP encouraged. Drop-in welcome while supplies last.
