Winemaker Tasting with Mark Wentworth

Winemaker Tasting with Mark Wentworth

Grippy TanninsPortland, ME
Thursday, May 28  •  6 PM - 8 PM
Overview

Showcasing terroir-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Wentworth's estate vineyards in California's Anderson Valley and Mendocino Ridge.

The world of fine wine is filled with estates of long and illustrious histories, families who have farmed the same vineyards for generations, producing wines of iconic status. It is much rarer and often more exciting to come across a winegrower and winemaker with just over a decade of experience already producing incredibly compelling wines.

Since acquiring land on Mendocino Ridge in 2014 and Nash Mill Vineyard in Anderson Valley in 2017, Mark Wentworth has quickly established a reputation for precision and clarity. He is at the forefront of a new wave of exciting winemakers at work in the region.

From vineyards on the western end of Anderson Valley, twelve miles at most from the Pacific Ocean, and on the western extreme of the Mendocino Ridge AVA, these are emphatically cool-climate wines. More specifically, they are higher-altitude, marine-influenced wines with excellent mineral definition and shimmering, kinetic personalities.

We are pleased to present the opportunity to meet Mark and taste his wines. Mark is just the kind of winemaker we like to talk with: just as honest, clear, intelligent, and expressive as the wines he makes.

The wines will be served alongside bites by chef Jess Lalumiere.

Wentworth Mendocino Ridge Wentworth Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

The estate has about 8 acres of Pinot Noir planted in the Wentworth Vineyard, which is just 3.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean and sits at elevations between 1,200 and 1,260 feet. This is the estate's flagship wine. The cool climate, high elevation, and proximity to the ocean make up the DNA of this breathtaking Pinot Noir.

170 cases produced.
