Mental Health Awareness Month 2026

Join the Omicron Tau Omega Chapter and the North Houston Ques for Mental Health Awareness events all month!

Participants will gain practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma while building resilience and connecting to resources that support long-term wellness. This event will feature a Q&amp;A session and breakout sessions geared for adults 18+. Mental health professionals and community organization vendors onsite.

2026 Symposium Session Titles/DescriptionWomen’s Session: “Bag Lady No More”This session will address the emotional and mental burdens many women carry as a result of ongoing life stressors. It will explore how those burdens often manifest as functional depression, anxiety, and chronic stress. The session will also examine how these challenges can show up across different stages of life while providing practical strategies for coping, restoring balance, and moving toward healing.Men’s Session: “Locker Room”This is a workshop designed to give men a space to step away from expectations and have real, honest conversations about the pressure they carry. Many men are taught to push through stress without fully understanding it, so this session focuses on helping them recognize how stress shows up in their thoughts, bodies, relationships, and behaviors. Participants will learn how to identify early signs of stress and understand its impact on their mental and emotional well-being. The workshop also introduces practical tools to help men manage stress &amp; cope in healthier, more effective ways.Relationship Session: “Triggers, Trust, and Truth”This session is designed to explore how stress  within relationships can affect communication, connection, and emotional safety. It will emphasize the importance of identifying triggers-addressing them effectively, rebuilding trust, and understanding how truth serves as the foundation of a healthy relationship. A licensed therapist will guide the conversation in an engaging and practical way, helping participants recognize patterns, strengthen communication, and build a more secure foundation for growth and connection.Family Session: “Family Ties and Hard Truths” This session is designed to explore family dynamics and the ways family structure, roles, and responsibilities can shape overall well being, particularly within minority families. It will examine how family relationships can impact mental and emotional health while also offering practical ways to foster healthier dynamics regardless of family makeup. The session will include discussion around boundaries, communication, and the responsibilities many families carry, with a focus on building stronger, healthier connections.Sound Therapy: “Good Vibes”This session is back by popular demand. A licensed therapist will introduce sound therapy and its calming effects on the mind and body. Participants will learn how sound can be used to promote relaxation, grounding, and a greater sense of calm. The session will also address how sound therapy may help reduce stress and lower nervous system arousal, supporting participants in moving out of fight or flight and into a more regulated state.
