Aiko Bethea in conversation with LaTosha Brown for a celebration of Anchored, Aligned, Accountable.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. This event takes place at the Auburn Avenue Research Library, 101 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Doors open at 2:30pm. Event begins promptly at 3:00pm.
Charis and the Auburn Avenue Research Library welcome Aiko Bethea in conversation with LaTosha Brown for a celebration of Anchored, Aligned, Accountable, which offers a bold new framework for successfully navigating complicated interactions at work, at home, and in all our relationships.
Bethea—leadership consultant and executive coach to Fortune 500 organizations, and Founder and CEO of RARE Coaching and Consulting—and LaTosha Brown will discuss Bethea’s framework for self-leadership that offers a path for building the trust, accountability, and connection that is needed to transform today’s workplaces and our overall quality of life.
We’ve all had them—awkward interactions at work that could have gone differently, misunderstandings at home that led to avoidable blowups. But what if those uncomfortable moments could become opportunities for personal transformation?
Renowned leadership coach Aiko Bethea gives us an innovative and road-tested framework for learning to show up in any situation authentically and not as the people-pleasing or conflict-avoidant versions of ourselves that have become second nature to so many of us.Bethea’s core insight is deceptively simple: meaningful trust comes from people being anchored in their values, aligned in intention and impact, and accountable to themselves and others. As Brene Brown writes in the foreword, “In the quicksand of uncertainty that defines our organizations and communities, this framework immediately felt like strong ground.”
Bethea draws on decades of real-life experience to show us the many forms that these scenarios can take, offering practical advice to help us lead from our most genuine selves and deepen relationships in every part of our lives. In doing so, she shows us how to transcend the bullshit we constantly encounter and meet each new day grounded in truth, connected to our values, and in control of not just what we do but who we become.

About the conversation partner
LaTosha Brown is a force of nature—a visionary thought leader, groundbreaking institution builder, cultural activist, and dynamic artist whose impact reverberates across the realms of Black voting rights, women’s empowerment, and transformative philanthropy. As a vibrant nexus between the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Power Movement, and Black Lives Matter, Brown harnesses her powerful platform to bridge disparate worlds and ignite change.
As the Co-Founder of the Black Voters Matter Fund and the Black Voters Matter Capacity Building Institute, Brown has revolutionized Black voter registration and turnout. Her tireless work has not only raised millions for grassroots groups across the nation but has also directly granted over $40 million to organizations in the South and Midwest. These remarkable achievements are fueling a seismic shift in the political landscape, amplifying the voices and power of marginalized Black communities.
In addition to her trailblazing work in voter advocacy, LaTosha Brown is the visionary founder and co-anchor of the Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium. This audacious $100 million, 10-year initiative is redefining philanthropy by investing in organizations led by Black women and girls in the South, ensuring that every phase—from conception to execution—is deeply rooted in their experiences and leadership.
Her groundbreaking work has earned her a spot on the 2024 Forbes 50 Over 50 Impact list and prestigious accolades such as Glamour Magazine’s “Women of the Year” in 2021, the 2023 Women of Vision Award from the Ms. Foundation, and the 2021 Rosa Parks Award, among others. Brown’s influence is further recognized through her numerous fellowships, including as a 2020 Hauser Leader and a 2020-2021 American Democracy Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School.
