Folding and Clamping Resist Fabric Patterns to Indigo Dye May 16th
Come create folded, clamped, and scrunched resist patterns in preparation to dye your fabric in our Community Indigo Dye Vat on May 16th!
We'll meet in Studio U4 at Cubberley to each fold and clamp resist patterns in a piece of fabric that's prepared for dyeing in our Community Indigo Vat. Please also register for the Community Indigo Dye Day to come back and dye your resist-folded fabric on May 16th! Additional events will also cover sewn items and stiched resists, which you're welcome to also join (separate registration required for each event).
A piece of white cotton fabric, an assortment of tools, and basic shibori or tie-dye instruction will be provided to every attendee. If you have a particular vision and are feeling inspired, you're also welcome to do your own research on how to acheive the extensive patterns possible through folding, scrunching, and clamping (a quick google of "shibori techiques" will yield SO many resist strategies!). Kids ages 10+ welcome to attend with an adult. Note: there will not be any dye vat at this event, we are only preparing fabric by folding and clamping in ways that will create patterns when dyed later.
Space is limited, so sign ups are necessary. Contact Jaya directly at info@jayagris.com with any questions. Looking forward to creating folded and clamped patterns with each of you, and your return to Indigo Dye your patterned fabric on May 16th!
Funding for this Event Provided by an ArtLift Grant through the City of Palo Alto's Public Art Program. Big thanks to their support and investment in our local creative community!
