Flamenco Fever (FF) has made the cathartic art of flamenco accessible to DFW by bringing premiere musicians and dancers to entertain and educate across a range of venues for decades. Now, in FF’s most important endeavor to date, La Cantera Arts Conservatory (LCAC), is carving out space to inspire the community with not only flamenco's mental, physical, and spiritual benefits, but in a wide range of activities that are attracting diverse participants beyond their niche.

Singer and percussionist Jose Moreno started to learn to play and sing flamenco by age six from his family of flamenco artists. As an adult he has toured the world with legendary artists like La Lupi, Antonio Rey, Jorge Pardo and more. Moreno performed in Miami at “Tablao Costa Vasca.” In 2001, Moreno choreographed and collaborated in a work with his mother, flamenco dancer Estella Moreno, appearing with singer Carmen Linares and the New World Symphony at Lincoln Theater in Miami Beach. Julia Alcántara has been bringing the best of Flamenco to North Texas since 1998.&nbsp; She graduated from UNM in Albuquerque, the heart of flamenco in the US, where she studied Art, Art History, Flamenco History, choreography, improvisation, singing, and classical Spanish dance.&nbsp; She performed Bolero with the Irving Symphony in their “Dallas Treasures” concert.&nbsp; She has produced 15 Flamenco Festivals, toured 90 cities in the US and was the 1st American Flamenco Company to be invited to perform in Malaga, Spain.Charles Johnson aka "Luckie Abejorro" is a key administrative support to the organization of Alcantara’s work. Together with Alcantara, he handles the sound and other logistical aspects of medium size productions. He has co-produced hundreds of productions in Dallas and its surrounding communities. His experience as a musician is invaluable to making the programming run smoothly; Johnson made his debut as Dallas' principal flamenco guitarist in 2024. With the help of a new cajon player-in-training, he will be playing more guitar this year and continue developing his ear for accompaniment under the top-notch instruction of residency artists.Genevieve Obregon is a flamenco dancer, choreographer, and educator based in San Antonio, Texas. She began dancing flamenco and folklórico in childhood and has since performed as a soloist and company member with ensembles across Texas and the U.S., including Arte y Pasión, Austin Flamenco Dance Company, and Maru Montero Dance Company. Her work is rooted in traditional flamenco while shaped by ongoing artistic research in Seville and Madrid, as well as regular study at the Flamenco Festival Internacional de Albuquerque. A finalist and runner-up in the Flamenco Vivo Certamen (Tablao Division), Genevieve has completed residencies and mentorships in New York under acclaimed artists Isaac Tovar and Florencia Oz. In addition to performing, Genevieve is deeply committed to teaching and community-building. She teaches through the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and the Armed Services Arts Partnership, and produces grassroots performances and artist residencies that strengthen and connect San Antonio’s flamenco community.
