Overview

Birthplace of L.A.: Walking Tour of Olvera Street, Museums, and Lunch

Come enjoy a leisurely Friday exploring the birthplace of Los Angeles, Plaza de Los Angeles.

As your tour guide, I will take you through Plaza de Los Angeles and Olvera Street and share with you the history of the founding of Los Angeles, the many individuals who are part of the city's cultural history, and the built environment of the area.

The walking tour includes Avila Adobe, Pico House, the Firehouse Museum, the Italian-American Museum, the Chinese-American Museum, the Mexican-American Museum, and other fascinating historic sites.

We'll also view the controversial David Alfaro Siqueros mural "La America Tropical".

For lunch, we'll be welcomed at El Paseo Inn, where we'll enjoy a delicious luncheon at this delightful traditional Mexican restaurant. After the tour is finished, you'll have time to shop at the charming shops along Olvera Street.

The tour is limited to 16 participants.

Specific directions on where to meet will be sent to you a couple of days before the tour.

Please, no babies, children or pets.

The tour, including lunch, is $85. If you would like to avoid the Eventbrite fees, email me at EleanorSchrader@roadrunner.com to pay by Venmo or check.

*Please note that this tour requires 72 hours' cancellation notification for refund.

You will be asked to sign a waiver of liability.
