The Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles is a nonprofit cultural and educational organization which presents concerts, film screenings, lectures, performance art and theatre events, gallery exhibits and more on the intersection between the creative arts and mythology, mysticism and metaphysics.

Hollyweird Storytelling Variety Show with Bridey Elliott!"Hollyweird" is a surreal and playful storytelling variety show hosted by Bridey Elliott where artists from a vast spectrum of backgrounds get to share stories, philosophies, whatever they want, centered around the theme: hollyweird. The guests use this as inspiration for whatever they choose to do like share personal Hollywood experiences, or read a fictional short story, present a philosophy, a short play, etc. There is an anything goes quality to Hollyweird that keeps each show a uniquely singular experience. Bridey Elliott is an actress, writer and filmmaker. She graduated from the National Theater Institute where she studied acting and playwriting. After moving to New York City, she became a regular at Upright Citizens Brigade and starred in the SXSW Grand Jury Prize winning indie, Fort Tilden, in 2014. After relocating to Los Angeles, she began directing. Her first short film, “Affections,” went to the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and went on to have an international theatrical run as part of the Sundance Shorts Tour. In 2018, Bridey’s dark comedy, Clara’s Ghost, went to Sundance and was released theatrically by MGM Orion. In 2020, “The Starr Sisters,” Bridey’s first documentary she co-directed, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. “The Starr Sisters” was awarded the Audience Pick from Palm Springs ShortFest and the Special Jury Prize from Aspen Shortsfest. Her latest narrative short, “Mirror Party,” premiered at Sundance 2023.

ADAM RIFKINAdam Rifkin is a writer director whose eclectic career ranges from broad family comedies to cult classics to dark and gritty dramas. He directs cult classics like DETROIT ROCK CITY and THE DARK BACKWARD. He penned the scripts for family friendly films: SMALL SOLDIERS and MOUSE HUNT. Adam wrote and directed THE LAST MOVIE STAR, starring Burt Reynolds which was released through A24 in 2017.

ANDRE HYLANDAndre Hyland is a director, actor, writer, comedian and visual artist. Currently you can catch Andre Hyland on THE LOWDOWN starring Ethan Hawke on Hulu.

SABRINA JALEESA writer, actor, and comedian, Jalees has written for HBOMax’s Search Party, Netflix’s Big Mouth and Human Resources, Apple’s Fraggle Rock, and more. She is currently the host of CTV’s new reality show, Farming for Love, and a judge on CTV Comedy Channel’s Roast Battle Canada. Jalees has also appeared in Carol’s Second Act, Transparent, Flashpoint, System Crash, Plastic Makes Perfect, House Party, and The A-List.
