#AutisticOutLoud is more than a film—it’s a cultural shift.What does it mean to grow up unseen, misdiagnosed, or misunderstood—and still find joy, identity, and voice? #AutisticOutLoud explores the intersection of Blackness and autism in 21st-century America, amplifying stories too often erased from the narrative.Now, we’re inviting you to help bring it to life.<h3>Why This Moment Matters</h3>We are raising our first $25K to begin production and capture these stories now—not years from now, not when it’s convenient, but when it’s urgent.Because if we don’t tell these stories, they continue to be overlooked.<h3>Meet the Producers and Director</h3>Tameka Citchen-Spruce is an award-winning producer, disability advocate, and storyteller with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of media and advocacy. After becoming paralyzed as an infant, she has dedicated her life to reshaping narratives around disability. Her work includes My Girl Story, Justifiable Homicide, and The Nightmare, as well as the Webby and Telly Award-winning PBS American Masters: The Renegades (Blind Tom Wiggins) and the digital series Divas in the City. Her mission is clear: to create bold, unapologetic media that centers Black, Brown, and disabled women and girls.Juliet Romeo is an award-winning filmmaker born in Trinidad and based in South Florida. Drawing from her lived experience as a Caribbean woman with a disability, she crafts emotionally rich, women-centered stories that explore love, identity, and social issues. Her work is rooted in authenticity, with a deep commitment to amplifying diverse disabled voices through empowering, visually compelling storytelling.Cashmere Jasmine is an acclaimed Afro-Caribbean director whose work spans music videos, independent film, and digital media. After being diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and now going through the journey of being neurodivergent, she launched her own production company and created films that have screened at dozens of festivals and reached over 1.2 million viewers. A Sundance, Slamdance, and Disney Launchpad-supported filmmaker—with NAACP-nominated work—her storytelling centers resilience, disability, and underrepresented voices.
