NextGen Leaders: Empowerment Through Tech, Voice & Leadership
This is a FREE 4-week summer leadership program to youth (ages 13-18). Please only sign up for the days you are CONFIRMED to be attending.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Each day is different.
The first couple of days, we want the cohort to get to know each other and create a safe space for everyone. The first day is important as they make friends and really feel what the experience will be like for them. Followed by W-F with storytelling basics and design.
The second week, the lessons are "all things robotics" where they learn how to build their own robot, such as a car.
Third week is Skills to Thrive, so we'll teach them how to use Google Drive, Microsoft Suite, how to budget, other interactive financial literacy activities, leadership and presenting skills, and other digital tools.
Last week is about Reflection and Self-care - stress management, self-care, how to use arcGIS StoryMaps to share what they're passionate about in the community.
On Friday, 7/31, there will be a Celebration Reception where family, friends, and community members are invited to come and share their achievements with them.
It's a great idea to enroll yourself (teen) or your children (ages 12-18) for the whole month to really grasp the whole experience. We separated the days because teens weren't able to make all the days last year, yet we don't want this opportunity to be wasted for other youth in the community who wanted to join.
