Learn the Homebuying Process from Start to Finish

Join our Hybrid Homebuyers Cohort and gain the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to successfully purchase a home.

This free, 4-part Homebuyers Cohort series is hosted by Community Forge, Wilkinsburg Land Bank, NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania, and Citizens Bank. Each session is designed to guide participants through every step of the homebuying process.

Each class features expert presentations from a HUD-approved housing counselor, loan officer, real estate agent, home inspector, and insurance broker providing comprehensive guidance all in one place. Dinner will be provided for in-person sessions.

What You’ll Learn:

• How credit impacts mortgage eligibility and interest rates
• Overview of available mortgage loan options
• Planning for a down payment and closing costs
• How to shop for and purchase a home
• Required homeowner’s insurance coverage
• Tips for maintaining your home and avoiding foreclosure

Certification:

Participants who complete the cohort and a required one-on-one counseling session with a HUD-approved counselor will receive a Homebuyer Education Certificate, valid for one year.

This certificate may be used to apply for down payment and closing cost assistance programs, subject to lender and program guidelines.
