Open House Colombo Spotlight: Studio of Architect Indudunu Kariyawasam

Join us for our first Open House Colombo Spotlight of 2026.

This month, architect Indudunu Kariyawasam opens his studio to the public—a compact two-storey building with a distinct 20th-century modernist sensibility. The project traces the careful conversion of an older, dilapidated structure into a two-unit apartment, retaining its original framework while selectively cutting, opening, and reshaping walls to bring in light, movement, and spatial continuity.

Part of the Open House Colombo Spotlight series, this is an opportunity to experience Indudunu’s work ahead of his talk the following week. The visit follows an open-access format, allowing visitors to move through the space independently while the architect is present throughout to engage in conversation.

Directions: The studio is situated just before 'WA Associates', which is visible on Google Maps. Once you reach Model Farm Road from Ven. Pelpola Vipassi Nahimi Mawatha, turn left onto the first small gravel road immediately after crossing the railway tracks. The studio is located on the right-hand side of this lane.

Parking: Limited parking for 2-3 cars along the lane where the studio is located. Additional parking is available near Devi Balika Vidyalaya and before the Royal Colombo Golf Club. Please refer to the image below for details.
