Overview

In connection to exhibition The World in Kansas City, featured artist Hùng Lê leads a process-oriented indigo dye workshop.

During this hand-on session, attendees will enjoy a brief gallery talk as well as discussion about Hùng Lê’s featured work in The World in Kansas City.

Following, Hùng Lê will introduce participants to the indigo dyeing process, along with its history, and various methods of creating resist patterns. Participants should plan to bring one plant-based fabric garment or sample (cotton, linen, hemp, etc.) to place into a five-gallon indigo dye vat for this workshop. The thinner the fabric, the better!

At the end of the workshop, participants will bring their work home to dry.
