Event Overview
Axis Communications invites school security leaders from the D.C. metropolitan area to an exclusive event focused on school safety. Participants will engage with keynote speakers, network with peers, and gain practical insights utilizing transformative technologies shaping the safety and security of education.
Part 1 Keynote: Michele Gay | Especially Safe: Ensuring the Safety of Everybody
Through inclusive planning, we can create a culture of safety and security for our children, students, parents, and staff to depend on in emergencies of all kinds.
Inspired by her daughter, Josephine, Michele shares her personal insights into school safety preparedness as the parent of a child with autism, developmental, and physical disabilities and the Especially Safe program created in her honor. Dedicated to helping school communities plan and prepare & teach and train for the safety of individuals with special needs, Michele will share the inspiration behind the program as well as its practical application for increasing empowerment and building a positive culture of safety for all members of your school community.
Part 2 Panel: Jill Renihan | Lessons learned
Hosted by Jill Renihan, Education Segment Development Manager, hear from a panelist of school security leaders about critical incidents and response. Gain critical insights on what worked, and what didn’t, and how to apply best practices in your school district.
Part 3: “All the empty rooms,” Netflix documentary showing

Part 4: AEC Tour, Networking
Understand how specific technologies mapped appropriately to the PASS guidelines can help bolster a schools security posture.
