Summer Solstice Ceremony: Medicine Wheel & the Sacred Energies of Life
Join Elizabeth Alanis, as she shares the medicine wheel movement as we enter the Summer Solstice.
On the sacred peak of the Summer Solstice, we gather in ceremony to enter the season of fullness, vitality, and living expression. Summer marks the height of the Sun’s radiance—the moment when life is no longer emerging, but fully alive, visible, and embodied.
This is the season of the heart.
A time when what was seeded in spring begins to take form, to grow, to express itself in relationship—with life, with others, and with the deeper dream that is moving through us.
In the lineage of The Origin Teachings of the Delicate Lodge, the Medicine Wheel is a living map of awareness and relationship. It teaches us how to walk in alignment with the sacred rhythms of life—supporting clarity, balance, and conscious participation in our own becoming and in the evolution of humanity.
The 20-Count Medicine Wheel introduces us to twenty sacred energies—the living intelligences that guide consciousness, community, evolution, and the cycles of creation.
These sacred energies are not abstract concepts. They are our relatives. They are living presences with whom we are in constant relationship—whether we are aware of it or not.
For many of us, there has been a separation…a forgetting of this sacred relationship. And from this misperception, we can begin to feel alone… unsupported… as if we must struggle or fight to receive what we need. But this is not the original way. Life is not something we walk through alone. There is a sacred interaction always available—one that, for the most part, has not been nurtured.
All of life is here to support us.
And we, in turn, are here to support life.
This is the path of reciprocity.
This ceremony is an invitation to awaken—or deepen—your relationship with your sacred relatives, to remember that you are held within a living, intelligent, responsive field of life.
For this Summer Solstice Circle, we enter the South and Southwest of the Wheel—the directions of growth, heart, relationship, and the living expression of the Sacred Dream.
This ceremony continues a year-long seasonal journey through the four great families of the Medicine Wheel; each aligned with a solstice or equinox.
In the South and Southwest, we will be guided into direct relationship with:
- Sacred Plants (3) — growth, nourishment, medicine, and the intelligence of natural life
- Sacred Human (5) — the heart-centered being, capable of love, choice, and conscious relationship
- Sacred White Buffalo Woman (13) — the sacred intelligence of life that teaches us how to live in right relationship; the guiding force that brings wisdom into form and supports the ways life grows, heals, and sustains itself
- Sacred Dream of Life (7) — the living experience of reality unfolding moment by moment; the way life expresses itself through you as you meet, perceive, and participate in each moment
- Sacred Kachinas (17) — the forces of change, redirection, surprise, and evolutionary guidance
Through shamanic journeys, reflection, and embodied presence, we will explore:
- What is growing and coming into full expression in your life
• How you are relating—to yourself, to others, and to life itself
• How to live in alignment with the Sacred Dream that is unfolding through you
• How to open the heart while staying rooted in truth and responsibility
• How to receive guidance through surprises, change, redirection, and the unexpected
• How to participate in life through reciprocity, connection, and conscious relationship
This is a ceremony of fullness— of stepping into life as it is now, of remembering that you are not alone, and of allowing yourself to be supported as you fully express what is alive within you.
This ceremony is spacious, grounded, and welcoming—whether you are meeting the Medicine Wheel for the first time or continuing a long-standing relationship with its teachings.
