Crown City with Naomi Hirahara

Thursday, June 18 | 7:00 pm

Join us for a conversation with acclaimed author Naomi Hirahara about her newest novel, Crown City. Set in turn-of-the-century Pasadena, Crown City is a historical mystery that uncovers the tensions and hidden dangers beneath the city’s prosperous surface. Hirahara will be joined by PMH Visitor Services and Outreach Manager, Christian Rodriguez to discuss how photographs and materials from the PMH collections helped inspire the novel and shape its vivid portrayal of Pasadena in 1903. The conversation will also explore the power of historical fiction—how it can illuminate overlooked histories and influence a popular narrative of the past. Don’t miss this engaging discussion about storytelling, history, and the real people and places that inspired Crown City.

Copies of Crown City will be available for purchase in our Museum Store through a partnership with Vroman's Bookstore, and Naomi Hirahara will be available for a book signing following the program.

Program will begin at 7:00 pm; PMH Galleries will be open for viewing at 6:00 pm.

Space is limited; advance reservations required.
