Is the seminar HUD Approved?

Yes, North West Housing Partnership's Home Buyer Education Seminars are HUD approved.

Question 2

Is there a cost to attend the seminar?

Accepted Answer

No.  The seminar is 100% free.  Registration is required.

Question 3

Do I need to attend the full 8 hour seminar for my certificate?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  Attendees must arrive on-time and stay the duration of the seminar to obtain a valid home buyer education certificate from North West Housing Partnership.  Attendees who arrive late or leave the seminar early will not receive a certificate.

Question 4

Is there childcare provided?

Accepted Answer

No.  There is not childcare facility at the seminar.  The seminar is only for attendees age 18 and older.  Attendees who arrive with children will be denied entry and required to register for another seminar date.

Question 5

Is the building ADA accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is handicap parking in front of the building, automatic doors for handicap attendees, and an elevator.

Question 6

What happens if I arrive late for the seminar or leave early?

Accepted Answer

Attendees who arrive more than 15 minutes or leave the seminar early will not receive the home buyer education certificate.  No exceptions.

Can the seminar be cancelled?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  NWHP may cancel the seminar if there are less than 10 attendees confirmed by the end of the business day prior to the seminar.

Is this seminar homebuyer education or counseling?

Accepted Answer

The seminar is a HUD approved home buyer education seminar.  Counseling is a separate process where a home buyer will work with a HUD Certified Housing Counselor regarding their personal housing journey.  Education (Group) & Counseling (Individual).

Question 9

Am I required to obtain housing counseling after the seminar?

Accepted Answer

Counseling is not required after the seminar, however it is highly recommended.  Homeownership counseling can assess mortgage readiness, options that suit your specific needs, and a personalized client action plan with your HUD Certified Housing Counselor.

Question 10

Does NWHP share my information with the service professionals?

Accepted Answer

No.  NWHP does not share your information with the service professionals or our affiliates.   As a HUD approved housing counseling agency, only HUD may review files.  Attendees may ask for the presenters information if they so chose.

Question 11

Are attendees required to utilize the service professionals presenting at the seminar?

Accepted Answer

No.  The service professionals are volunteering their time and expertise to educate home buyers.   Attendees are not required to hire the service professionals at the seminar.

Question 12

Will I be required to bring my own lunch?

Accepted Answer

No, NWHP will provide a continental breakfast and lunch for free.  Lunch will be Domino's pizza.  For attendees with dietary restrictions, you may bring your own lunch.  We ask those who bring their own lunch to be considerate of other attendees.

Question 13

Is this seminar eligible for Down Payment Plus by the Federal Home Loan Bank?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  NWHP is an adopter of the National Industry Standard for Homebuyer Education and Homeownership Counseling. You will be required to attend a housing counseling session with a HUD Certified Housing Counselor for the grant.  You will need two (2) certificates: education and counseling.
