Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety for Youth (Virtual)
This training is brought to you by the Advancing the Recruitment and Retention in our Workforce (ARROW) program learning community.
This 3-day workshop is designed for school-based providers to address anxiety disorders and concerns in youth. Participants will learn the theory and practice of CBT for common anxiety disorders in youth including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
This comprehensive, live, virtual workshop will show you how to apply evidence-based cognitive and behavioral interventions for youth with anxiety disorders through lecture, role plays, and case discussions. You’ll learn how to create a case conceptualization, identify and evaluate anxious thoughts, incorporate mindfulness into treatment, and implement behavioral experiments and exposure exercises.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Create a cognitive conceptualization for young clients with anxiety and use the conceptualization to plan treatment within and across sessions.
- Discuss ways to teach clients how to identify, evaluate, and respond to automatic thoughts and beliefs.
- Describe how to incorporate mindfulness practices within the context of the cognitive model.
- Apply relaxation techniques to help clients reduce physiological symptoms of anxiety.
- Adjust standard CBT interventions to incorporate recovery-oriented strategies.
- Describe the structure of CBT sessions for anxiety disorders.
Who should register:
This training is ONLY available to school-based behavioral health providers (social workers, school psychologists, community-based organization clinicians, counselors, Department of Behavioral Health school-based clinicians) placed at DC public and public charter schools.
Registrants who are not eligible school-based providers will have their registrations canceled.
