Seed: Germinal Roots and First Respiration
Join us for Seed, the opening concert of Wild Muse Arts’ Season I, Seed | Bloom | Flight, at Faraway Farm Alpacas.
SEED I BLOOM I FLIGHT is a three-part concert series that explores the natural lifecycle of the garden, from germinal seeds of beginnings (May) to full bloom (August) and transformation and decay (October).
We begin this May with SEED, a program centered on emergence: the unfolding of musical ideas, the first burst of life, and the question of how to reckon with new life in an age of climate uncertainty.
Highlights of SEED include Emilie Mayer’s underperformed Piano Trio in B minor, a work that showcases her masterful command of motivic development—an ability that earned her the nickname “the female Beethoven.” Also included is Trifolium by Gabriela Ortiz, one of today’s leading composers in Mexico. Named after the three-leaved clover genus, the work references plants known for their role in restoring and sustaining the soil.
Also featured is "How to Breathe" from The Trees Speak by composer-in-residence Angelique Mouyis, presented here in a newly commissioned arrangement for piano trio. (Additional movements from The Trees Speak will be presented as part of the Flight program in October.)
The program is bookended by bursts of sunlit energy through Boulanger’s luminous French textures and a virtuosic, early finale by Beethoven.
