Drawing and Painting

From figure drawing to painting fundamentals, these classes offer opportunity to build your skills, refine your process, and make work in community with others. Learn oil painting, watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, graphite, and more.

Textiles and Fiber Art

Work with natural dyes, sew garments, create sculptural work out of fabric, weave, and more. All classes related to fiber and textiles live here.

Many paintings live on fabric, but we don’t often stitch into it! In this class you’ll learn several basic embroidery stitches and how they can be used in paintings. We’ll talk layering, pattern, texture, and how borrowing techniques from textile art can inform your painting practice! You may bring a work in progress that you want to experiment on. No prior experience is required.This class is taught by visiting artist-in-residence <a href="https://alchemyartcenter.com/2026-artistsinresidence" title="https://alchemyartcenter.com/2026-artistsinresidence" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cora Armstrong.</a> Cora joins us for June and July from Portland, OR. If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.Tuition assistance is available for Alchemy classes and workshops if finances are a barrier.
