Our Radical Nonfiction group meets monthly to discuss titles related to the issues of history, politics, & the promise of a better world.

Radical Nonfiction Book Group with Carlo
Discusses Envisioning Real Utopias by Erik Olin Wright

Led by Greenlight booksellers Mandy and Maritza, our Literature in Translation Book Group meets monthly to discuss books from around the world, with a particular focus on marginalized voices and indie presses.

For May, the group discusses Envisioning Real Utopias by leading American sociologist Erik Olin Wright, in which he proposes a new framework for a socialist alternative. A comprehensive assault on the quietism of contemporary social theory and systematic reconstruction of the core values and feasible goals for Left theorists and political actors, Envisioning Real Utopias lays the foundations for a set of concrete, emancipatory alternatives to the capitalist system. Characteristically rigorous and engaging work, Envisioning Real Utopias is sure to become a landmark of social thought for the twenty-first century.
