Muddy's Bake Shop is an independent bakery located in Memphis, TN sharing lovin' from the oven since 2008. We make insanely delicious homestyle treats- cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, and more.  Our small team makes everything fresh, from scratch using traditional methods and small batches. Place a preorder, swing by our walk-in shop, or participate in a class or event.  We can't wait to see ya!We began teaching leadership & training workshops internally in 2011 and then with other groups & individuals in 2017.  It was only natural to then start sharing baking classes...  We expanded our kitchen in 2021 to include a dedicated teaching classroom where we now host in-person baking classes, leadership training classes, birthday parties, and more.  We love teaching (and learning from) our wonderful students from many walks of life!

A savory, rustic galette is an ode to the farmer's market and a delight to eat! Join Kat in the classroom kitchen to prepare a delicious vegetable galette with in-season produce and delicious herbs and spices. (I want to see what's good at the market closer to time, but possibly new potatoes with herbs!)Each participant will prepare their own pastry; groups will work together to make fillings and prepare the veggies for topping, then each will assemble their own to bake and take home!In this class you'll:<ul><li>learn the secrets of making a savory whole wheat pastry from scratch and by hand</li><li>roll out dough and form a rustic free-form tart (aka galette)</li><li>prepare your veggies to build a flavorful filling</li><li>have fun with other awesome students learning &amp; baking together</li><li>learn pro tips you can apply to a variety of similar recipes</li><li>take home your delicious, fresh-from-the-oven galette as well as the recipes for everything you made in class</li><li>enjoy a guided tasting to learn the 5 steps to tasting like a pro!</li></ul>No prior baking experience needed. Class sizes are small so students have ample opportunity for guidance &amp; questions. Your instructor will demonstrate every step of the recipe and be available as you try each step yourself. While some parts of the recipe may occasionally involve "group work" with other students, you will complete most of the activites yourself... and of course, you'll leave with your goodies!Who should participate? Anyone age 15+ who is looking to learn, wants to have fun, or just enjoys baking in company.Who teaches the hands-on baking classes? Kat Gordon, owner &amp; founder of Muddy's is the primary instructor for all hands-on baking classes. Any class with more than 4 students also has a 'sidekick' assisting instructor.Are classes wheelchair accessible? Our tables are height-adjustable, so if you need special accommodations, just let us know ahead of time and we'll be sure to have the table and your spot all ready for you!What about cancellations? Classes are small and space is limited, so all ticket sales are final. Please check the date/time carefully before booking. If you cannot make it to your class, you may gift your ticket to a friend.
